SPELLCHESTRA

SPELLCHESTRADK

On a timeless theatrical marketplace, a troupe of bards wield song, play, and laughter as their weapons.

Platform transforms into a living marketplace as spellchestra takes over the 360-degree open stage with their musical role-playing drama Marketplace. Seven distinctive performers from the experimental music scene appear as a noisy and lively bard troupe, challenging Terminus – the god of private property – armed only with the liberating force of voice and play.

Amid the chaos of the marketplace, tensions begin to surface, and something starts pulling people apart. The troupe’s sense of community is put to the test as other forces push in and begin to shift the rules. In a world where value is measured and traded, the troupe holds on to music and laughter as a counter-move – an attempt to turn the game around and question what is usually taken for granted.

Through their role-playing method, the group takes on the games of economy, power and the market using their own play, coded languages and music. Let yourself be carried into an unpredictable musical drama as spellchestra performs Marketplace, using satirical voices to question the nature of capitalism. Can the bard troupe escape the grip of Terminus?

spellchestra consists of composers, artists, and musicians Holger Hartvig, Arte Carlander, Oliver Laumann, Simin Stine Ramezanali, Mija Milovic, Stine Victoria Hyun, and Tettix Hexer, who have been active on the Danish and international experimental scene in projects such as Synd & Skam, LOL Beslutning, CTM, Slim0, Hal0plus+, and Tehran.

Marketplace is presented in collaboration with Art Hub Copenhagen
