Denmark’s warmest rock band return to play Orange Stage

Aphaca caused an almost unheard-of sensation at Roskilde Festival last year when they were moved from the First Days programme straight onto the Arena stage. And those who found themselves in the warm community of the sea of people could not help but ask whether they should simply have been moved directly to the Orange Stage instead.

This summer, the time has finally come for Aphaca to take over our main stage. There will be ample space to unfold grand dreams and longings as the band return to Roskilde Festival with their already iconic hits and songs from their brand new album Vild Ungdom ('Wild Youth' in Danish).

The four childhood friends Rumle Hueg Kærså, Bertil Engberg Nielsen, Bertram Ask Plauborg and Noah Elias Rasmussen have truly enjoyed a meteoric rise, and their timeless songs about love, friendship and solidarity have resonated across generations, making the band a household name and more than worthy of the country’s biggest stages.

Despite their sudden superstar status, Aphaca have managed to keep their feet on the ground and hold on to their youthful charm in songs that dare to dream wildly, love deeply and reach out to the audience in intoxicating communal singalongs. It is a musical dream of a better world, while the songs remain rooted in warm, organic, hand-played arrangements.

“Denmark’s warmest and best rock band in years,” wrote the Danish newspaper Politiken in connection with Aphaca’s concert at Roskilde Festival last year. And it will no doubt be warm once again when wild youth blossoms on the Orange Stage.
