Slow down, breathe, and feel the wool gliding through your fingers.

Learn How to Knit With Raw Wool together with Hedestrik and take part in a slow rebellion against mass production and the commercial yarn industry.

Dogma knitting is the hand's hymn to slowness. It’s about taking the time to pull long threads from raw wool, warm the lanolin in your hands, unroll your yarn key, let the idea for your project unfold – before you are ready to cast on your stitches and begin knitting.

Dogma knitting is all about making the most of the resources available in our local surroundings. The technique involves working with unprocessed raw wool without carding or spinning. It’s a natural, sustainable, and simple process that creates a beautiful result.

In this workshop, we gather to knit – slowly and mindfully – free from the pressure of mass production or the rush to finish a sweater. Dogma knitting is a sustainable alternative to chemically dyed yarn, plastic yarn, long-distance supply chains, and the narrow perception of sheep as a fast-produced product rather than living beings.

You don’t need to be an advanced knitter to join the workshop, but basic skills in knitting, purling, and casting are recommended. All materials will be provided for participants.

Hedestrik is a community dedicated to working with Danish raw wool. They focus on Nordic wool – often dismissed as a residual product – by promoting dogma knitting and freeform knitting as sustainable alternatives to the commercial knitting industry. In 2024, Hedestrik opened a wool culture house in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, and published the book Hedestrik; Wool, Craft and Landscapes
