Experience DUNKEL – a performance that settles deep in your body with raw, guttural voices and unsettling sonic textures. Step into a mysterious world where the air feels heavy, the space trembles with movement and sound, and you’re invited to surrender – to fall, drift, and disappear into the dark.
The dance performance DUNKEL by Olivia Rivière and Lisen Pousette is a breath, a fleeting cloud, a moment suspended between dusk and dawn. It holds the tension of darkness—heavy yet light, soft as a duvet yet filled with doomsday doom. The brighter the light, the darker the darkness; this performance evokes a desire to linger in the shadows and let your eyes adjust.
Six dancers take over Platform and turn it into a place where sound and movement merge. They work with alternative vocal expressions – including growling, the deep, powerful voice from metal – which is deconstructed, distorted, and blended with gritty tones and slow, stretched motion. The result is an intense, physical experience that vibrates all the way through you.
DUNKEL is a sensory journey and part of Rivière and Pousette’s long-term exploration of the sonorous body – a project that began with Ever Losing in 2019. As the dancers move among the audience, the boundary between stage and spectator dissolves, and you become part of the dark, immersive rhythm of DUNKEL.
