Young rapper BigXthaPlug has quickly made a name for himself as one of the most interesting new names on the American rap scene with a raw edge, a deep voice and an impressive flow.
With roots in Texas, he is a strong and relevant representative of Southern rap, where there is room for both old school hip-hop feel and heavy trap beats, just as BigXthaPlug elegantly weaves samples of soul, gospel and blues into his eclectic mix.
That blend earned him massive attention when he released his debut album, Amar, in 2023, featuring hits like "Texas" and "Levels" and showcasing an artist with a deep nerve and personal voice. The blend of hip-hop, soul and blues unfolded further on the 2024 album Take Care, and BigXthaPlug has also impressed with the song "Drink Don't Need No Mix", where he collaborates with new hip-hop/country crossover star Shaboozey, who you can also experience at this year's Roskilde Festival.
BigXthaPlug has teased in an interview that he will dive deeper into the world of country music on an upcoming release. One thing's for sure: he's far from done exploring the eclectic musical roots of his native Texas, and you can expect a dedicated performance when he delivers one of his captivating concerts at Roskilde Festival.
