ABOUT THE TASK AND THE ROLE

Do you want to be part of something that grows? Would you like to cultivate new communities and gain knowledge about plants, food, and biodiversity? Then you might be one of our new year-round volunteers at Roskilde Byhave.

Roskilde Festival is recruiting passionate and dedicated year-round volunteers for a new team of enthusiasts who will help develop and manage Roskilde Byhave – a living laboratory for food, biodiversity, local communities, and new experiential spaces during Roskilde Festival and GRASP.

We aim to gather a group of passionate volunteers who can see themselves working within one of the following areas:

Operations and development: This area involves close collaboration with ØsterGRO on the garden's design and the coordination of its operations. A green thumb and an interest in sustainable agriculture would be an advantage here.

Volunteering and engagement: In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating volunteer efforts (e.g., open house days and regular workdays) and partnerships with local schools, associations, and initiatives (e.g., project days for school students). You will also help communicate the project to relevant stakeholders and audiences.

Knowledge and events: This area involves planning and organizing events and activities that promote and share knowledge about the project, both within the Roskilde Festival Group and externally. It also invites collaboration in and around the garden. This includes activities during Roskilde Festival, GRASP, and other events, as well as Byhaven’s own events such as the Harvest Festival.

Other: Are you skilled in communication, or do you see yourself in a role we haven’t thought of? We’re open to discussing possibilities.

The role spans the entire year, with a heavier workload during the summer months when there are more activities and operations in the urban garden. Overall, you should expect to commit to either 300+ hours or 100+ hours annually (corresponding to the roles Ansvarlig365 and Medskaber365 respectively).

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for passionate individuals who:

Have a strong enthusiasm for food, sustainable agriculture, and new initiatives within gastronomy

Are self-motivated and capable of driving projects from idea to implementation

Are great team players and thrive in a role where dialogue and collaboration are key

Wish to take ownership of the project and support the development of efficient workflows and processes in a phase of exponential growth

Your professional background and skills are not decisive.

ABOUT US

In collaboration with the urban farm ØsterGRO and Roskilde Municipality, we have established Roskilde Byhave in the recreational area Milen near the village of Vor Frue. Roskilde Byhave is our living laboratory for food, biodiversity, and local communities. The garden features beds with edible crops, while a compost area, outdoor kitchen, firepit, and greenhouse are being developed in collaboration with schools in Roskilde, among others.

The ambition is for citizens, volunteers, vocational schools, associations, researchers, and businesses near Roskilde to get their hands dirty and come together to cultivate new ideas around sprouting plants and delicious fire-cooked meals, inspiring the wider community.

As a passionate contributor to Roskilde Byhave, you will become part of the Trade & Gastronomy division within the Roskilde Festival Group. In addition to overseeing the development and operation of all trade and gastronomic experiences at Roskilde Festival, the division focuses on creating new formats, experiences, and communities year-round, centered around food and nature.

You will collaborate with the project team behind Roskilde Byhave, ØsterGRO Urban Farming, and other partners, such as local schools and associations.
